Alicia Thompson - Birth Doula
Outside of my highest calling as a wife and mother, there is within me a deep love for and a connection with pregnancy and childbirth... I am a doula.
Since the earliest age I can remember, I was fascinated with babies and pregnancy. While growing up, I learned all I could about conception, the birth process, and all the little details I could find on the subject.
As a mother, I have run the gamut of birth experiences myself, from a terrifying birth with my first child to a great drug-free hospital birth with my second to confident, beautiful, all-natural homebirths with my two youngest. I have also had an unplanned pregnancy that was healthy and uncomplicated to two very much anticipated pregnancies that ended prematurely.
During my first pregnancy I often watched TLC's "A Baby Story" and was intrigued by a few of the births. They all had one thing in common besides babies being born. These few intriguing births had women called "doulas" in attendance. I was inspired.
Doula.
I chose DONA International to seek a doula certification. Since that time, life has thrown us a few curves and has delayed the completion of my certification, but I am back at it and in love with what I do.
I am a wife. I am a mama. I am a doula.
